Thankful for sunshine and flowers!

Math: Students will apply what they learn about Area and Measurement to create a “Dream House”. This fun project will be in lieu of a chapter test. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.MD.A.3
Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. 
Writing: Would you rather have a pet chimpanzee or a pet python? Students are answering this question in an opinion essay. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.4.1
Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information.
Religion: Mary and the Mysteries of the Rosary
Science:  Students will do hands on group work to explore energy  concepts.4-PS3-3. Ask questions and predict outcomes about the changes in energy that occur when objects collide.

Reading: RL.4.6 Compare and contrast the point of view from which different stories are narrated, including the difference between first- and third-person narrations  

RL.4.9 Compare and contrast the treatment of similar themes and topics (e.g., opposition of good and evil) and patterns of events (e.g., the quest) in stories, myths, and traditional literature from different cultures (Reader’s Theater) 

Religion: The Rosary and Mary 

Science 4-PS3-1. Use evidence to construct an explanation relating the speed of an object to the energy of that object. 4-PS3-3. Ask questions and predict outcomes about the changes in energy that occur when objects collide

Math : Measurement! Have your kids help you in the kitchen with cooking or around the house with projects that require measuring! This will help deepen the concepts!

Spring: The season of new beginnings | Live Science

Religion: The month of May is dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. We will say the Hail Mary Daily and learn about the Rosary this month. We will also focus on our saint of the month Blessed Chiara Luce Badano. Students will be like Blessed Chiara in learning how to resolve conflicts, set goals, and explore the Catholic Social Justice Teaching: Rights and Responsibilities.
