December 7 – 11

We have two weeks until Christmas break and holiday excitement fills our Zoom room! This week we look forward to some fun and common core aligned assignments.

Religion:  The focus is on Advent.  Students are invited join our class for the Mass on Tuesday at 10:30 to celebrate the Immaculate Conception of Mary. If you would like to watch the mass as a family, join the live Facebook stream through the parish page.

Math:  4.NBT.5: Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.

Reading with Mrs. Halley: Students will be given a variety of options to respond to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe during class time.

Writing/Grammar: We continue to share Christmas Stories and work on Grammar Boot Camp.

STEM: Candy Cane Experiment

Take note of this great opportunity: Elf College at St. John School

Students in preschool through grade 8 have an exciting opportunity to join St. John School’s Elf-in-Training Program and help our Unbound friends.  The “course load” includes four kindness activities and a STEM project.  Upon completion, students will be graduates of Elf College and receive a graduation gift!
